Welcome back to BrightySkin, gorgeous!
Is Valentine’s Day coming so close? Any perfect plan that you have in mind for your night-in girls’ date or romantic hangouts? For any purpose, we always want to appear so brightly on an important day, no matter it is your 1st date or in front of the person you want to impress. Hence, my post today is all about the 7 quick fixes for my girls to achieve glowing skin after just one-night sleep. Let’s try these right tonight to see the changes in the next morning!
1. Some drops of honey for your clear skin
We heard about honey a lot of times to get clear skin. My personal tip is that I leave one small jar of home-grown honey close to the sink and put some drops of honey into my facial cleanser. Then I foam it all up and cleanse my skin every night with that mixture. You might hear some people using manuka honey in this step, but there’s no need to fancy up your daily routine by using expensive honey.
Honey originally contains antioxidants, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties so that it can help to clear out the complexion and moisturize it at the same time. This adding ingredient is also helpful for acne skin to soothe and prevent inflammation thanks to the antibacterial and antifungal ingredients. Recently I also try mint flower honey for this step and my skin really gets plump and firm.
2. Exfoliate thoroughly your skin
Old, dead skin cells will accumulate and make the dewiest skin look dull, dark and un-lustrous. So don’t skip exfoliation, my girls. There are two types of exfoliation: chemistry and physical types. Scrubs with microbeads known as physical exfoliation is quite a traditional kind, however, the method is not recommended for sensitive skin due to the harshness during scrubbing.
It is to advise that we should go with chemical types which don’t involve any scrubbing and help to minimize the fine lines. How about adding one step of Glycolic Acid serum into your daily routine? This 1-min step will help to get your skin less rough and smooth it out. Any forms of AHA/BHA serum are all recommended. AHA for dry skin and BHA for oily kind, to clean all the pores and stimulate the collagen production process.
3. Seek a quick dose from Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a must-try ingredient to brighten your complexion, even out the after-acne discoloration and gently stimulate our collagen production. Although we cannot look for quick results in just a few days, Vitamin C still a must for your daytime and nighttime routine.
Nevertheless, we’ve always known that Vitamin C is quite photosensitive, it shouldn’t be used only for bedtime. The ingredient can give a big hand to strengthen and lengthen the effective time of our daily sun cream. Based on this fact, we can have room to add on Vitamin C in our skincare with care and expect a satisfactory outcome.
4. Keep your body hydrated from inside out
Hey there office girls!! Yeah, I’m talking about you, exactly you. We are all too busy buzzing here and there with a long to-do list in the workplace despite the fact that our special day is coming. This habit is quite harmful not only to your skin but also to your health. Take a cute big mug as your new best friend and refill it every hour to avoid sitting at your desk for too long and dehydrating.
Additionally, you should also add up your routine with moisturizing. A non-greasy and nourishing moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide together with water-locking ingredients such as silicon, or fatty acids like Ceramide or plant oils will help you to get rid of the TEWL (Trans-Epidermal Water Loss) symptom and leave your skin so supple and plumping whole day long.
5. Don’t try anything too hard
We are the most impatient species in this world, especially in skincare, I can tell. When we aim to get better skin, we’re seeking immediate change or result. Sometimes this impatience will lead us to overuse some active ingredients, and make the skin barrier broken then break out. This scenario is quite a nightmare, isn’t it?
If you already have a stable routine with all the active serums or strong ingredients, you can keep it up without changing any products. Don’t jump to try the new things that are advertised to bring about a magical effect on your skin. Because it won’t happen like that. If you’re quite new with Retinoids, AHA/BHA, etc., please only focus on exfoliation and moisturization to prevent unwanted reactions or allergies.
Besides, chemical peelings or micro-needling are another big “No”, because such methods will need weeks or months for your skin to recover and get the result you want. Don’t risk yourself!
6. Face oil and facial massage
Facial oils and oily skin will not be a perfect match. It is such a huge myth that until now many people still believe strongly in it, so they even try to avoid cleansing oils, too. Well, let me tell you that facial oils are the most multi-purpose things to help our skin to stay healthy, firmer and flawless skin that I’ve ever tried.
Of course, we cannot use whatever facial oils that all can become a perfect fit for us, however, there’s always the one that brings our skin to a totally new level. Add a little bit of tamanu oil (if you have acne-prone skin), baobab oil (if you own a dried and aging skin) or the miracle mixed facial oils of Herbivore, Drunk Elephant, Sunday Riley, Kiehl’s, etc. to get the skin of your dreams.
Putting on facial oils at the last step of your nighttime routine, and using your fingertips to massage all over your face and neck with the oil will right away help to firm and brighten up your skin after just 10 minutes. You can always find some useful facial massage patterns to prevent wrinkles or tighten your skin on Youtube to give a try.
7. Get enough Zzz
Last but not least, we need a good night’s sleep of 7 to 8 hours from 11 pm for at least one day before the D-Day. This is well-known as beauty sleep. We girls have enough sleep will not only have radiant skin, a bright look but also a super good mood and feel energetic.
However, beauty sleep is not just a number of resting hours that we will have, but the quality of the resting it counts. When we sleep, our stress hormone (cortisol) goes down and our sleep hormone (melatonin) goes up. Our body and our skin will be in repair mode. In other words, nighttime gives our skin the opportunity to recover from any daytime damage. Trying not to drink any caffeine drinks or Vitamin C supplement after 2 PM, no alcohol or salty food in dinner, leaving your phone 30 minutes before bedtime and having a cup of warm milk or chamomile tea can help to soothe you to bed easily.
I hope these tips can help my gorgeous girls to be the most beautiful girls on special days!!
Much love xxx
